Members of our troop helped remember and honor our dearly departed veterans this holiday season by placing wreaths on graves at Union Grove Veterans Cemetery. During the holidays, it is especially important for us to remember and reflect on the sacrifices that our veterans made for us. Helping lay the wreaths is one small way to continue to thank them for their service.
The scouts collected nearly 3700 cans and boxes of food for the those in need. The donations collected were taken to the Helping Hands food pantry at the Norway Lutheran Church. (https://sites.google.com/site/mynorwaylutheranchurch/ministries/helping-hands-food-pantry) The food is shared with the food pantry in Caldwell. Working together we can provide meals to those who are going through a rough patch this Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for all the neighbors and friends in Wind Lake and Tichigan who put out food for us to collect. 30 scouts and 20 parents and adult leaders worked most of Saturday to collect, sort and distribute the food collected.
Thanks to all the shoppers at the Waterford Pick n Save who donated food on Saturday. Ken the store manage really went the extra mile helping to setup the process. We collected over $600 worth of food plus close to $100 in cash donations. We couldn’t have exceeded our goals without your help!
Thanks to everyone to bought some food from our stand at the street fair at St Claire’s church! (http://www.stclarewindlake.org/) It helps to keep scouting very affordable. It was a busy day, the scouts also help haul picnic tables and clear the garbage.
The Town of Norway hosted a Electronics Recycling for the citizens. The scouts helped the town by carrying old electronics from cars to the dumpsters. The scouts had a lot of fun and they appreciate the town letting them help.
