WHO ARE WE

We are chartered through the Southeast Wisconsin Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Our chartered organization is VFW Post 8343 of Wind Lake, Wisconsin.

We meet on Tuesday's at 7:00 PM in the Gym of Lakeview Grade School located at 26335 Fries Lane in Wind Lake, WI.

We have an activity or campout at least one weekend a month.

During the week of July 12 to July 18, 2009 we will be going to summer camp at Robert S Lyle Scout Reservation.

HOW YOUR SON BENEFITS

With all the negative influences in today's society, Scouting provides your son with a positive peer group and a program that is fun and adventurous and helps him to "Be Prepared" to shape his own future.

Our program builds self-esteem, self-reliance and self-respect through a blend of out-door experiences, educational and instructional skills, recognition, value building and fun.

Among the activities offered are more than 120 hobby and career skills available through the merit badge program, year round camping and outside activities, recognition, leadership training, service  projects and special events.

First year Scouts learn camping and other Scouting skills  while earning their Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.  During the 2nd and 3rd year, they hone their scouting skills and explore other areas of interest.  Scouts who have achieved the rank of Star and are at least 14 years of age may challenge themselves in the Senior Patrol.  Past trips by the Senior Patrol have included Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico and a trip to Sea Base in Florida.  This year the Senior Patrol is planning a trip to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.

HOW THE TROOP IS RUN

Once a year the scouts elect a leader that is called the "Senior Patrol Leader" to lead them in their activities.  Each Patrol then elects its "Patrol Leader".  These are the only elected positions within the troop.  All other scout positions are appointed.

Under the guidance of the Scoutmaster, the youth leaders plan an annual calendar of activities for the Troop.  They plan monthly weekend trips to such places as Eagle Cave, Devil's Lake State Park, Camp "Oh-Da-Ko-Ta" and other places.

The Troop and most of its activities, excluding summer camp and special outings, are financed by a fee of $60 per year per scout.  This fee pays for registration,  insurance, awards and patches that the boys earn, registration fees for the weekend camping trips and other troop expenses.  To help pay for this fee and the other activities, the Scouts have the opportunity to earn money through our fund raisers where 75% of the profit a Scout earns goes into his account.  All the fund raisers are voluntary, but any Scout not participating will be expected to pay the $60 fee and any activity fees out of pocket.

WHAT IS BOY SCOUTING?

When you stop and think about it, Boy Scouting is unlike any other youth program.  Boy Scouting can offer more than team sports, to the development of our youth.

While many programs help boys develop specific physical skills, Boy Scouting goes beyond the basics and fosters the development of the whole person, mental and physical skills, character and leadership skills.

Boy Scouting is very different from Cub Scouting.  New Boy Scouts learn from older Scouts a variety of hands on and outdoor skills.  They also, learn team work and leadership skills by using the patrol method.

Boy Scouting offers boys the opportunity to participate in the fun and challenging activities they need while instilling the values that will help launch them on a successful course for life.  Boy Scouting is about what a boy experiences today that will prepare him to become a man of character in the future.

THE TROOP COMMITTEE

This group is primarily made up of parents of the scouts in the Troop.  The Committee meets once a month, 9 times a year, on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM.

The Committee supports the Troop Program.  It is responsible for the administration of the Troop and the maintenance of its equipment.  This includes keeping records, filing permits, making reservations and making transportation arrangements for activities.

The Committee also approves the annual Troop program as submitted by the Annual Planning Conference.  The committee must decide if it can support the program that the scouts want to have.  If not, the proposed program is sent back to the scouts with recommendations for changes.

QUALITY UNIT

Troop 332 is a quality unit under the leadership of the Scoutmaster and 9 Assistant Scoutmasters.  The Troop Committee is under the leadership of the Committee Chairman.  Many of the adult leaders in the Troop are award winning leaders with many years of service.  Five of the adult leaders have received the District Award of Merit.  Two of the adult leaders have gone through Wood Badge Training.

Troop 332 is Located in Wind Lake Wisconsin.
